The move-in inspection report is a mandatory document that must be attached to the lease. It provides a room-by-room description of the property, including its fixtures and any attached spaces (basement, attic, garage, etc.).
It describes the condition of the flooring, walls, and ceilings, as well as the fixtures and fittings.
The inventory of fixtures is drawn up when you move in and must be signed by both the tenant and the landlord. As a tenant, you can request changes to it within 10 days of its completion: to do so, email your landlord (or their representative) listing any defects you did not notice during the inventory of fixtures, and include a photo. You may also request amendments to the inventory of fixtures within the first month of the heating season if you notice any issues that were not previously noted.
