Health costs abroad can quickly amount to a very high amount, even in the event of a "little sore".
Before you go abroad, you must therefore take out international insurance.
Apart from the host university's insurance (which may be mandatory depending on the country and which is only valid on campus for the majority of them), you must ensure that you are insured for when you get on the plane until you get off a few months later.
This is called international travel insurance.

2 scenarios:

Either your current insurer covers you in the event of illness, hospitalization, medical expenses, repatriation, etc. in your country of destination for the duration of your mobility (it's up to you to find out from your insurer).
Either you must take out international insurance (you are free to choose the organization).
